The seeds of the Pokesdown Reunion Association
were really planted in the 1940's when a group of ex club
members set themselves up as a Friends Association. Their
aim was to provide items of equipment for the club that the
Governors could not finance due to lack of funds.
In the late 1980’s the Pokesdown Re-union Association
itself was formed. This group of ex members followed on from the Friends
Association and came together as a result of a sad occasion, the funeral
of previous club leader John Cutler. Many previous members came to pay
their respects and together decided that it would be good to meet up regularly.
The first meeting of the association took place on 27th March 1988 at
the club itself and a report on the occasion
was completed by Claire Meader. The association still continues to meet
today holding regular social events and a regular newsletter is circulated
among members. A small annual subscription of £3 per family is charged.
If you are an ex member and are interested
in joining this group you can find out more by contacting
the association's secretary whose details
appear on the Contact Us page.
